PARKERS PLASTIC SUPER BEE HIVE - The advanced bee hive for the progressive beekeeper
|
Parkers plastic super bee hive uses the Langstroth system and dimensions and consists of full depth box, lid, bottom board and cleats. Extra boxes can be added when required. They are made from a special high-density structured foam polypropylene material with added Ultraviolet resistant stabilisers to give a long service life in the variable climatic conditions as experienced in Australia. Many features have been incorporated into the design of the side and end mouldings required to make a box. The tapered lugs on the end mouldings are made to fit into tapered cavities on the side mouldings which enables a quick and easy assembly. To ensure mouldings fit tight and firm, they have been tapped together using a rubber mallet and then holes pre-drilled at designated pilot holes, before screwing together to prevent mouldings coming apart. |

Advantages include:

Finger grips are on both sides and end mouldings, and are designed for extra strength, whilst grip and comfort is retained when lifting boxes. Special undercuts are provided on each corner of the box when assembled for inserting hive tools when separating and levering off boxes and lids. Branding of boxes with names and registration numbers can be achieved by using a hot branding iron. The lid is a migratory type (outer dimensions same as box) with an inside depth of 25mm. The bottom board is the same design as the lid, but is reversed with two bee entry slots inserted. This also allows closing off of one side of the bottom board easily during winter. Cleats are bolted onto the bottom boards. |
